The role

Studio Art Director at Airship is a role of impact. From creating pipelines to training programs. From mentoring and developing other artists to working closely with clients to achieve their needs.

Working with the Art Leads to ensure we are always at the forefront of technical & artists ability, and techniques.

High standards are a must, everything that goes out the door is checked meticulously internally, and you will be responsible for this process. It is vital that you are a confident and supportive leader with great communication skills.

The responsibilities

  • Overseeing art production across Airships studios
  • Creating pipelines, innovating existing work methods and techniques
  • Mentoring and training artists and providing guidance
  • Addressing resources and needs within the studio
  • Working closely with clients and production, to develop project strategies
  • Ensuring clients expectations and requirements, are accurately communicated to the production team and those expectations are met
  • Creating internal art bibles and ensuring Airship are always ahead of the curve with new technologies and techniques.

You will need

  • Minimum of 5 years working in the industry, with 3 of those at an Art Director level
  • Minimum of 3 shipped titles or cross-industry equivalents
  • Excellent knowledge of modern game and cinematic techniques, technologies, software and an opinion on the direction of these going forward
  • High-level understanding of art direction principles, cinematography, colour theory, composition.
  • A passion and dedication to your craft, and complete understanding of what you are looking to get out of this role
  • The ability to lead diverse and large teams
  • The ability to break down complex topics and develop training material for them or communicate them to clients and staff

Assistant Producer

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting to ensure the development of all projects occurs in a timely fashion, adheres to schedule and meets the high-quality standards required.
  • Assisting in the population and maintenance of tracking tools and software.
  • Reviewing milestone deliverables and working with the Head of Production to ensure they are fully achieved to the highest standards.
  • Attending meetings, taking meeting points and relaying information to the relevant teams.
  • Working with artists and external contractors to ensure a good working environment and atmosphere.
  • Assisting in Miscellaneous Production and Office Management tasks when required.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • The confidence to find solutions to problems and the ability to motivate the team.
  • The ability to work as both part of a team and independently.
  • Be highly motivated with an eagerness to learn.

Pluses:

  • Experience with Shotgun.
  • Game Production Courses / Education
  • Game Industry Experience

Junior Character Artist

Duration: 6-12 Month Contract

Airship Images is looking for a Character Artist to work on a range of exciting projects at their studio in Lytham St. Annes. Our ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in creating next gen character art and be passionate about pushing the quality level of their artwork.

Requirements:

  • A strong working knowledge of Maya, Photoshop, Substance Painter and ZBrush is essential
  • An eagerness to learn new workflows/techniques
  • Self-motivated with strong communication skills
  • The ability to take and apply direction and work well in a team environment

Pluses:

  • Examples of Character Hair in Portfolio
  • Examples of Character Clothing in Portfolio
  • Experience using Unreal Engine 4
  • Experience using CryEngine / Lumberyard
  • A keen interest in games beyond art
